About Bluecopa
Bluecopa is an AI-native finance operations platform that automates Record-to-Report (R2R), Order-to-Cash (O2C), and Procure-to-Pay (P2P) on a single unified data spine — so finance teams close faster, reconcile at scale, and run on real-time, trustworthy numbers. We exist to bring finance into its next age of tooling, and eventually make it autonomous.
The Role
You will sit at the intersection of engineering and client success — embedded with customers to understand their data problems deeply, then design and ship the infrastructure to solve them. This is not a support role.
You’ll architect pipelines, own technical decisions on-site, and translate ambiguous business requirements into working systems. You’ll make calls on what gets built custom versus what gets pushed back into the platform, and feed those insights directly to the product team.
The role works closely with Implementation and Product to assess platform gaps, and with clients from pre-sales through go-live. Expect equal parts terminal, whiteboard, and client call.
Key Responsibilities
- Client Data Engineering: Embed with enterprise clients to scope, design, and deliver data engineering solutions end-to-end.
- Pipeline Infrastructure: Build and maintain production-grade data pipelines — batch and streaming — on Data warehousing and distributed infrastructure.
- Workflow Orchestration: Configure and extend workflow orchestration using Bluecopa’s native constructs to model complex client automation requirements.
- Technical Design: Translate SOW and business requirements into detailed technical designs and implementation plans.
- Strategic Decisions: Make strategic decisions on what should be a core platform feature vs. a custom implementation.
- Feedback Loop: Interface with Implementation Support to identify platform gaps and enhancement opportunities.
- Client Engagement: Lead technical discussions with enterprise clients during pre-sales and implementation phases.
- Frontend Development: Design scalable frontend interfaces that surface data clearly for finance and ops stakeholders.
- Internal Contributions: Contribute to internal tooling and participate in architecture reviews.
- Customer Voice: Act as the technical voice of the customer — document patterns, pain points, and product gaps.
Required Qualifications
Technical
- BigQuery: Familiarity with BigQuery — query optimisation, schema design, partitioning, and cost management.
- Distributed Systems: Solid understanding of distributed systems fundamentals — consistency, fault tolerance, scalability patterns.
- Orchestration Engines: Conceptual familiarity with workflow engines (Temporal, Argo, Airflow, or similar) — understanding of how durable execution, retries, and DAG-based orchestration work in production.
- Core Languages: Command of programming skills in Python and SQL.
- Cloud & Infrastructure: Experience with cloud platforms (GCP or AWS) and container-based deployments (Kubernetes).
- Frontend Stack: Strong familiarity with React and TypeScript for building production interfaces.
- API Integration: Familiarity with REST and GraphQL API integration patterns.
- UI Construction: Ability to translate product and design requirements into clean, maintainable UI components.
Client Alignment & Product Thinking
- Ambiguity Management: Comfort with ambiguity — ability to drive technical clarity from loosely defined requirements.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication — able to navigate a CTO and a data analyst in the same conversation.
- Product Instinct: Thinks about UX, edge cases, and long-term maintainability, not just task completion.
- Embedded Engineering: Experience working directly with enterprise clients or in a forward-deployed / embedded engineering context.
Nice to Have
- Experience in a startup or fast-paced consulting / professional services environment.
- Exposure to LLM tooling or AI-native product development.
- Familiarity with data contracts and schema registries.
- Prior experience as a solutions engineer or technical account manager.
- Background in fintech or enterprise SaaS platforms."
Application questions
7You'll be asked to answer 7 additional questions when you apply.
- We work with complex workflows and distributed infrastructure. Are you familiar with workflow orchestration engines like Airflow, Temporal, or Argo? Briefly highlight how you've handled retries or DAG-based execution in production. Required
- This role involves building production-grade batch and streaming pipelines. What is your experience with Python, SQL, and BigQuery? Please mention any specific experience you have with query optimization or cost management. Required
- You will occasionally design frontend interfaces to surface data clearly for stakeholders. What is your hands-on experience building production UIs using React and TypeScript? Required
- This role sits at the intersection of engineering and client success. Have you previously worked in an embedded, forward-deployed, or consulting capacity where you interfaced directly with enterprise technical teams? Required
- You will need to translate loose client requirements into concrete technical designs and decide what features should be built custom versus pushed to the core product. Can you share a quick example of how you successfully navigated an ambiguous client problem? Required
- Please note that once you apply, we will be sending a game-based assessment test. The breakdown of the test is 70% aptitude and 30% skill-based, and it will require a dedicated 2-hour time slot. Please let us know your preferred availability to take this assessment so we can schedule it according to your preference. (Below is the example) Required
- Referred by an employee or agency? (Please specify name, if any):
