About the Role

As QA Lead, you will own quality across the Bluecopa platform. This is a hands-on role: you will write and review automated tests, build and maintain the automation framework, and lead a team of QA engineers.

Your success will be measured on three things: how few defects reach production, how quickly the team can test and sign off a release, and how much of that testing runs automatically without anyone doing it by hand.

What You Will Do

Test Strategy and Quality Ownership

• Own the QA strategy and roadmap, keeping it aligned with what engineering and product are building each quarter.
• Decide what gets tested, how, and to what depth — so that releases go out on schedule with known, acceptable risk rather than guesswork.
• Set testing standards and processes for the whole team, ensuring they are followed through reviews and regular audits of test quality.
• Represent QA in code reviews, sprint planning, and design discussions, catching quality problems in design rather than after release.

Test Automation

• Build and maintain end-to-end automated test suites for the Bluecopa web platform using Playwright (or Selenium), covering core customer workflows.
• Own the automation framework — keep it reusable, stable, and easy to extend so that adding tests for new features takes hours, not days, and failing tests indicate real bugs rather than flaky scripts.
• Grow automation coverage steadily to shrink manual regression testing down to a streamlined pipeline run.

API and Data Testing

• Build API test suites (using Postman, REST Assured, or similar) integrated into the automation pipeline to catch contract and behaviour changes early.
• Validate backend data with SQL — write complex queries to prove the numbers shown in the product match the source database.
• Test data pipelines, transformations, and warehouse loads powering finance workflows to catch inaccuracies before month-end closes.

Release Quality and Defect Management

• Run functional, regression, integration, and exploratory testing across the development cycle.
• Own defect management end to end — identify issues, document them clearly, prioritize them with engineering, and track them to resolution.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or similar) so every build is validated before shipping.

Finance Domain Testing

• Apply domain knowledge (accounting, close automation, reconciliation) to design test scenarios that validate business logic accuracy.
• Partner with product managers and finance experts to translate real customer workflows into robust test cases.

Team Leadership

• Lead and mentor a team of QA engineers through reviews, pairing, and clear standards, empowering them to own technical areas independently.
• Plan sprint work predictably, balancing feature testing with ongoing framework and automation enhancements.
• Collaborate with engineering leads and product managers to allocate quality efforts effectively and unblock release risks.

What We Are Looking For

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 7–8 years of hands-on software quality assurance experience with a strong focus on test automation, including experience leading or mentoring QA engineers.
• Proven, hands-on skill with Playwright or Selenium WebDriver maintaining scalable test suites.
• Experience designing and building automation frameworks (Page Object Model, BDD, Data-Driven, or Hybrid).
• Strong SQL skills to write complex queries and joins for backend data validation.
• Solid API testing experience (REST/SOAP) using tools like Postman or REST Assured.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, or C#.
• Hands-on experience with Git and CI/CD integration tools.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools like JIRA, TestRail, or Zephyr.
• Direct experience testing finance domain systems (accounting, close automation, reconciliation) with an understanding of core business logic.
• Demonstrated track record of leading QA teams, driving process improvements, and elevating organizational quality standards.

Nice to Have

• ETL testing experience — validating data extraction, transformation, and loading.
• Knowledge of data warehousing tools (Informatica, Talend, SSIS, or similar).
• Experience testing microservices and event-driven architectures.
• Performance testing experience using JMeter, k6, or Gatling.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Prior experience testing finance, fintech, or enterprise SaaS products.
• ISTQB or equivalent QA certification.

What Success Looks Like

• In 90 days: You know the product's highest-risk areas, have set up a regular test-review and defect-triage process, and have picked the top three automation gaps to close first.
• In 6 months: Regression testing for a release runs mostly through automation, release sign-off is faster than before, and defect counts in production are tracked and trending down.
• In 12 months: Releases ship on a predictable schedule with few surprises, the automation framework covers the workflows customers rely on most, and the team you have built finds problems before customers do.
